Sometimes you may hear local people moaning about tourists, or you may be one of these locals who gets annoyed in the holiday season with the amount of added traffic, lack of parking spaces or generally the increased number of people about, which can mean more vandalism and littering.
Not all tourism is bad as often tourism is essential to many areas to allow it to thrive. It brings in money for local businesses and councils and allows that money to be reinvested in to the area.
When visiting another area or country we should all respect the people that live and work there. It is nice to take a bit of time to get to know the locals and sample some of the produce they have on offer. Too many small businesses are struggling especially through the winter months, so if we could all make one trip to a local butchers instead of a supermarket once a week, then these shops could stay open for years to come.
